Whilst we were on the subject of vertical gardens I had noticed that Tomoko sensei had a rather nice wire mannequin going spare so I asked whether I could use it to make another type of ‘vertical garden’ – an orchid dress.
Fortunately she said yes so I quickly got to work on a design for an orchid ballet dress. I thought the concertinaed mesh of the tutu would be just perfect for holding the moss-balled orchids.
I couldn’t wait to get started on the construction. It took me over two days to complete!
I was on tenterhooks as the dress was moved into its display position beside mine and Phil’s vertical garden. Thankfully it made it unscathed.
I rather like the finished display – especially when the sun goes down and the dress is illuminated by Kiseki no Hoshi’s beautiful night lighting scheme.
