Back stage of Longwood Christmas! 〜 part1

Longwood Christmas is coming!!

Here,I would like to show you the back stage of Longwood Christmas.

●Poinsettia(Euphorbia pulcherrima)

We tied Poinsettia ‘s stems up in last week of October!

every time when I pass in front of greenhouses, I enjoy seeing Poinsettia! They are ready 😉

●Christmas trees ~ visiting to Christmas tree farm

“Hi~~~” what do you guess where we are ??

We visited to one of “Christmas tree farm”s which is located in local area of Pennsylvania and it takes 20min from Longwood Gardens. This day it had sleet snow. it was first timefor me to take HAY RIDE. new experience again.

vast field of Christmas trees which includes Douglas fir(Pseudotsuga menziesii),Fraser fir(Abies frasri), and so on. the scenery over there is Winter berries field. Beautiful red and orange fruits we can see.

the little cutie trees has kind of citrus smell;) let’s try.

this farm is managed by its owner’s family. very hard work we can imagine.

●Christmas trees ~ putting lights on

Putting lights on trees are required special skill! we are getting used to doing it step by step…with listening Christmas music ! ※Juniper (Juniperus virginiana) ‘s pointed leaves hurt our soft skin sometime.

●Creating Wreath ~collecting Grape vines

here, we visited to one of the property of Longwood garden’s wonderful staff to get Grape vines to create wreaths for christmas decoration. how exciting it is.

yes we got lots of vines and which means it’s good enough for creating wreaths.

the next day, we tidy them up so making the wreath smoothly.

this is one scene when visiting to Carpenters’ studio. trying to ask if they could make huge wreath frame!

studio is so cool! I love to visit such a creating studio!

We potted it up in the last week of October!

      hahaha. here in US, one thing that I’ve noticed is “Christmas trees for sale” is anywhere in front of grocery stores this time. that’s very cultural things, isn’t it.
