We visited to The Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden

●Dr. Makino

This bronze statue is Dr. Tomitaro Makino who is “Father of Botanist” in Japan. He is one of the most famous botanist and also well known as authority of modern plant systematics as he discovered lots of new species and named them,too.

This botanical garden was established in Kochi prefecture where Dr. Makino was born.

 

★This day,  one of curator at the garden introduced us about the garden’s many attractive points  and devices! It was very fun!!

 

●First zone we visit to

After enter the gate, at first we can see is the special zone introduced local plants of Tosa area, one part of Kochi prefecture.

「咲」means 「flowering (now, let’s look it!)」.

●Architecture

Inside the Plants and People Museum which is built by Japanese architect Hiroshi Naito.

We came to a great conservatory!

●Dr. Makino Memorial hall

In this hall we can see Dr. Makino’s history and large number of his data.
